Korg Kross 2. Converting Pad Samples to Programs.
Moving pad samples into a program allow samples to be edited as a program making it much easier to record sample loops in the sequencer.
Pad samples can not really be edited other than choosing between looping the sample or a 'gate' so the sample ends when you take your finger off the pad or when it ends.
This means retriggering samples every bar or two is impossible and leaves a 'gap'.
The Korg Kross 2 has a little 'routine' called 'Convert Pad Sampler to Program'. This converts the 16 pad samples into a program and allows program style editing of the samples so you can filter them and apply envelopes, etc. In 'Pad Sampler Setup' just select 'function' then scroll down. Select the function and then select an empty (init) program.
The 16 samples are mapped across the first 16 keys of the keyboard and you can't edit them separately, but if you've got several loops you could just them singularly into the pad sampler then convert them singularly. You have plenty of user programs. 500+.
Using the Amp-EG you can apply some release time to the sample so you can retrigger the loop every bar or two without gap. I found a release time of between 50 and 70 seem to works quite well.
