SOUNDWARE REVIEW: Colours. Arturia Pigments For Zampler. Free Sample/Patch Collection

I produce lots of free sounds for Zampler. I think it's the best free VST soundfont player. It offers playback of .sfz soundfonts, but a whole lot more. It's got comprehensive synthesizer parameter editing with a cross modulation section, a really powerful suite of effects processors, and Synapse Audio's excellent programmable dual voice arpeggiator.

You can download your free copy from the link below. It's 64 bit only I'm afraid.

Take a look around this site and you'll find lots of free and commercial sounds for Zampler including my very popular SongLab Zampler, and SongLab Zampler Lite (free) products.

So I thought maybe it was time to take a look at some other developer's free and commercial products.

'Colours' is a free sound collection for Zampler from Beat.de magazine. It features 24 sounds taken from Arturia's 'Pigments' software synthesizer. Since Arturia's logo is on the box it looks as if it has been developed with their blessing.

The 24 sounds are arranged into a single Zampler Bank of 24 patches. There are four sound 'groups' if you like. BS - Bass, LD - Lead, PD - Pads, and SY - Synth, and there are some really good ones.

Noise Injection and Slapdance are deep, powerful synth bass patches, in the lead section Indiana Bones would be great for Tomita fans, and Glittah is a shimmering 80s sound, although I would call it a pad rather than a lead. Flutter Cutter, and Planet of Spice are evocative motion pads, whilst Graindead adds some granular 'oddness', and in the Synth section you'll find Loalita, a warm, fat synth comp and my favourite of the sounds here.

It's quite big download. Just under a gigabyte, which is a lot for 24 sounds, and it's downloaded as a .rar file so you'll need an unzipper (standard Windows unzipper won't work).

Here's the link. Just download the .rar file to your computer. Then extract the files using an unzipper. 7-Zip is a free one. Then use Zampler's 'Load Bank' function to load the .fxb file. You can then use the 'patch select' function on Zampler Main Page to select and play the sounds.

FREE SOUNDWARE: Project Zompler. Juno Polysynth for Zampler.

'Juno Polysynth' for Zampler.

Here's the latest sound set for Zampler
Project Zompler is my ongoing soundware project for Zampler
Zampler is a freeware VST sample player with synthesizer parameters and effects. You can download your free copy here:

Project Zompler.

Project Zompler will provide a full set of 'essential' sounds/patches for Zampler ideal for use with freeware or entry level music production platforms (or DAWs) that don't come with much in the way of instruments and sounds, such as Soundbridge or Reaper. Turning Zampler into what is commonly referred to as a Rompler. Great for learning/education, but the sounds are really usable and ideal for songwriters and music composers that need a strong 'foundation' of 'everyday' sounds.

All the sounds are stored in Zampler's own .fxb file format along with the source samples, so they are ready to use patches and don't require any further mapping or editing.

I reckon I'm now up to 99 patches in the collection, you can find the others, which include piano/e-piano, acoustic guitars, electric basses, strings, voices/choirs, trumpet, sax, and organs by searching 'Zompler' in the search bar. Once I get to the magic 128 I'll collate all the sets into a single blog post page and download file for anyone who would like the whole library in one go.

Juno Polysynth Sounds for Zampler.

This patch collection is a selection of 20 polysynth sounds. Based around a sawtooth wave sample, this collection features some really powerful 'comps' as they are sometimes known alongside some slower moving pad type sounds.

Zampler's powerful filtering, modulation, envelope generators and effects have been used to supply a great selection of fat, powerful sounds evoking the 'analog' synth age of the 70s and 80s.

It actually kind of turns Zampler into a synthesizer in it's own right.

Use the following link to downlod the patches along with the source samples. Just right click to download the whole folder to your hard drive then use Zampler's 'Load Patch' function to navigate to and load the required patch/sound.

Thanks for checking it out!
